Good Footing keeps your health data, workouts and answers on your phone. We don’t have accounts, ads or tracking, and we never sell your data. The app itself sends one thing off your phone: your purchase record, so it knows which plan you have (see Purchases). Anything else leaves your phone only if you send it, for example in an email to us or when you share a card.
This website uses no analytics and no tracking cookies.
What stays on your phone
Your onboarding answers (the name you chose to give, goals, what’s made it hard before, how active you are, anything we should go easy on), your workouts, “This hurts” taps, rest days, reminder time, settings and journey progress are stored only on your phone. The app does not sync them to iCloud or to any server of ours. If you back up your iPhone, for example with iCloud Backup, Apple’s backup of your phone may include this app’s data, as it does for any app.
Your 2-week check results stay on this phone, too. They are compared only with your own earlier checks.
Apple Health
If you connect Apple Health, Good Footing reads your step count to show it in Progress and to suggest a lighter session on busy days. It also saves your workouts to Apple Health and, for outdoor walks, the route. You choose what to allow, and you can change it at any time in your iPhone’s Settings under Health. Health data is never used for advertising and never leaves your phone through us.
Location
If you choose “Map and distance” for an outdoor walk, the app uses your location while you walk, to measure distance and draw your route. Location is used only during an outdoor walk you start. The app keeps the distance of the walk. It does not keep the route: if you allow Apple Health, the route is saved there, on your phone. You can choose “Steps only” instead, which needs no location.
Motion
With your phone held to your chest, the app can count your sit-to-stands from motion data, and it can count steps on outdoor walks without location. Motion data is processed on your phone while you move and is not stored. The app keeps only the count, such as how many times you stood up, with that workout on your phone.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled on your phone. They don’t mention your answers, pain reports or body limits, so nothing like that shows on your lock screen. You can change or turn them off at any time in the app (Me → Notifications) or in your iPhone’s Settings.
Purchases
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are made through Apple. We never see your payment details.
To know which plan you have, Good Footing uses RevenueCat, a service that manages in-app subscriptions. The app sends RevenueCat your purchase history (which plan, when it started and renews, its price and whether it is a free trial) under a random ID created on your phone. With it go the technical details needed to check a purchase: the app and iOS version, your App Store country, language and currency, an identifier your iPhone gives to apps from the same developer, and, as with any internet connection, your IP address.
The app never sends RevenueCat your name, email, Apple Account, health data, workouts, answers or location. We use this record only to unlock Pro, to check purchases against fraud, and to see how many people choose each plan. It is not linked to your identity, not used for advertising and not shared for tracking. RevenueCat’s own policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
Sharing
If you share a progress card or a message from the app, it goes only where you choose to send it.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Me → Delete all my data. This removes everything the app stored on your phone: your answers, sessions, journey progress and settings. Workouts already saved in Apple Health stay there until you remove them in the Health app.
Your purchase record stays with Apple and RevenueCat, so Restore keeps working on a new phone. To have the RevenueCat record deleted, email us and we will ask RevenueCat to remove it. An order ID or receipt from Apple helps us find it.
Children
Good Footing is made for adults and is not directed to children.
